According to the Motorcycle Industry Council, motorcycle sales are up an average of 7% and scooter sales have jumped an amazing 50% during the first quarter of the year. Additionally, tire sales are rising steadily, which indicates that currently owned bikes and scooters are on the road instead of in the garage.
The sales spike just happens to coincide with $4 a gallon gas. Of course, if you are aware that a scooter or small bike can get 60 mpg, you are not surprised by the swarm of people at dealerships across America.
Fuel efficiency will continue to play a significant role in two-wheeled transportation sales. Look for new models from old producers to help fuel additional sales.
