Motorcycles And Scooters Missing From Australian Census

Question 54 on the Australian census form asked how many registered motor vehicles owned or used by the household are garaged or parked nearby. The question also advised people to exclude motorcycles and scooters. Why?  That’s the question on the minds of many Australians.

”I had expected that if there was going to be a count of registered vehicles, that motorcycles would be included. But I was very disappointed and concerned, that we were very clearly excluded from that question,” said Motorcycle Riders Association ACT branch president Jen Woods.

Accurate information about motor vehicles is used to plan new roads and to fully understand the needs of individual communities. Motorcycle and scooter owners point out that neglecting any segment of motorized vehicle will cause a community’s needs to be misunderstood.  What do you think?  Would you be upset if two-wheelers were missing from our nation’s census?
