2011 was a year to remember for BMW Motorrad. The motorcycle manufacturer had its best sales year by increasing sales by 6.4% from what it sold in 2010. A large part of that success took place in America where the German company increased sales by 7.4% in a year.
Leading the Teutonic charge in the states is its sport bike, the venerable BMW S1000RR, BMW’s top selling motorcycle of any type. This year, the S1000RR’s third, industry observers believe this impressive trend will continue with the liter bike being just slightly updated. This minor update will help the bike stay competitive with the superbikes heading the model lines of Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki, all of which are either not being upgrading at all or only slightly so.
