The 2012 MotoGP season has all of the necessary ingredients to make for a year of racing that is both filling and fiery. Will Casey Stoner, last year’s champion, regain the MotoGP crown? Or, more intriguing still, will the Stone Man improve even further and set records that last longer than the reign of a Qatar emir’s?
This year’s season begins in Qatar. With the first race, we should be able to see if the slower CRT motorcycles are able to catch the faster bikes in the race’s early turns. If so, we ought to be ready for flying bikes and pinwheeling riders.
Who, after Stoner of course, are some of the other riders we should be on the look out for? Honda’s Dani Pedrosa and Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies all deserve respect and attention. If Stoney fails to prevail, there’s a good chance that one of these three will be on the middle podium.
There are of course many other riders in the pack. Rossi, Dovizioso, Bautista, and Crutchlow all enter the season with a puncher’s shot at the gold ring, while Gresini, Hayden, Abraham will do well just to compete.
