Australian racers came up roses in what many have described as being a “perfect Sunday afternoon” of racing at Estoril, Portugal with Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo, both Aussies, riding to the first and second place finishes.
The race did not start out with the POMs in the lead. In fact, Spain’s Dani Pedrosa shot to the first lead of the day with a missile-like launch at the race’s start. However, Pedrosa’s early joy was short lived when he was forced to slow down due to a brief case of tire wobble and dropped back to third before the first lap had been run.
Once in the lead, the Stone Man refused to release his grip upon first for the remainder of the race. After the lead trio of Stoner, Lorenzo, and Pedrosa, were Cal Crutchlow, Andrea Dovizioso, Alvaro Bautista, Stefan Bradl, Nicky Hayden, Valentino Rossi, and Hector Barbera, who came in from fourth to 10th respectively. Obviously still at the top of his game, it’s crazy to think that Stoner is considering retirement.
