MA Motorcycle Insurers Inflating Rates

To date, twelve Massachusetts motorcycle insurers have agreed to refund nearly $34 million. Why? Because they were overcharging customers for motorcycle insurance. More specifically, they were using inflated book values to calculate rates. Five of these insurers – Arbella Mutual, National Grange Mutual, Norfolk & Dedham, and Mass. Homeland – just reached recent settlements with the state. The MA Attorney General’s Office states that almost 100,000 policies will be eligible for a refund.

These unethical antics are only another reason that comparing rates is essential to securing an affordable motorcycle insurance policy. When you perform an online comparison, it becomes much harder for an insurer to inflate your rates; if they do, you just won’t choose them. Simple as that.
